Royal Caledonian Ball 2005

The Royal Caledonian Ball 2005 will take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, on Thursday 28th April.

The President and the Vice President are still practicing for the Set Reels, and due to their obligations to the public, they have had to postpone their participation until the 2006 Ball.

Details of the Royal ABERCROMBIE Ball are expected to be published by the Presidential Office in November of this year.

Wedding in Windsor

The Presidential Office has received a large number of queries regarding the possible attendance of the President and the Vice President of the ABERCROMBIE CLUB at the forthcoming wedding of HRH The Prince of Wales to Mrs Camilla Porker-Bawles.

Normally the President's and VP's offices do not comment on private invitations from members of any Royal family, however since this wedding is now so in the news since HM The Queen will be riding in Windsor Great Park rather than attending the sombre festivities, we felt it would be right to make an exception as our loyality is with She who is Regina.

Both the President and the Vice President have been invited but they both have had to decline the invitation due to previous engagements in New York.

Breaking News

HRH not in Putney this year
It has been announced that, with regret, HRH The Princess Catherine, former patron of the ABERCROMBIE CLUB, will be unable to attend the 151th Boat Race. Suitable ladies of the blue blood (with family tiara) may apply to take HRH's place in the Royal Box on Putney Bridge. Queries to be addressed to the President.

Club Member Seeking Accommodation

Can You Help Eddie?
One of our loyal Dutch members will most likely and most hopefully relocate to the Old Smoke in the very near future. If you happen to have an empty closet or a spare cupboard that could accommodate him (beware, he's quite tall), please write to the President with details. Any price considered.
Fingers crossed Ed!

The Boat Race - Lastest News

Oxford and Cambridge University Boat Clubs will name their crews for the 151st Boat Race in Putney on Monday 28th February.

Our favourite is the 23 year old and 6'3" tall Robin Bourne-Taylor, Captain of the Oxford Eight, who started rowing at Abingdon School. He is now studying engineering science at Christ Church, and in September 2005 he will go to the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst where he will join the Household Calvary.

NB: Any pictures of these important years in Robin's life can be sent to us at any time.

Ariel
The print given to the President by the VP in Oxford last Saturday

Another Field Trip or Oxford Revisited

On Saturday morning the Vice President phoned the President who was still asleep, as he does not normally get up before noon unless breakfast is served in bed. On a silver tray that is. Both the President and the VP were recovering from a spontaneous club night on Thursday, so on Friday nothing much happened. It was a cold but sunny day and the VP informed the President that he would pick him up in the Vice Presidential limousine, destination unknown. The President, who doesn't like surprises like these because they make him feel out of controle, jumped in his Presidential bath and slept a bit more. When the VP parked outside the Presidential Palace and phoned the President to tell him he was waiting outside, the President woke up (one day he will drop his Presidential mobile in his Presidential bath) and he summoned his dresser to get him ready.

The journey took them to Oxford, their beloved Oxford. Always a good place to be and never disappointing when it comes to club venues and potential members. After a healthy breakfast, the President and the VP walked around and they both noticed there was a lot going on on this lovely Saturday. They followed two policemen on patrol and tried to get arrested, but alas. What does it take to get some good value for your tax money nowadays? Just get those handcuffs out, it can't be that difficult, surely! Oh, well, instead the Presidential party went to a nice coffee house where they had to drink their coffees standing, because the VP messed up with the seating arangements. There was a potential member, the intellectual type for this was Oxford after all, but he didn't seem to get it. And that's the thing, if you don't get it, then there's no use.
Warmed up, the President and the VP continued their walk until the VP stopped and looked in the window of a shop selling antique prints. Without hesitation he walked into the shop and when he came back, he handed a print of Ariel to the President, saying that it was him.
[Story to be finished]
